Come to our Big  Fall Book Sale Event inside the Westport Library!  Thousands of gently used books in over 50 categories, including children’s; literature and classics; fiction, mystery, and SciFi and fantasy; art, photography, history, math, science, psychology, philosophy, religion, biography, business, cooking, gardening, performing arts, travel, foreign language, education, reference, and more, including Noteworthy, especially antiquarian books.  Plus DVDs, CDs and vintage vinyl, and a limited selection of artworks and ephemera.

Please note:   Our modest collection of graphic novels and manga will be available only at our Westport Book Shop, right across Jesup Green from the Westport Library.  For Book Shop hours, click here.

Book Sale Hours:

FREE Admission:

  • Friday, December 1 -- from 12 pm to 6 pm
  • Saturday, December 2 -- from 9 am to 5 pm
  • Sunday, December 3 -- from 11 am to 5 pm -- This is Half-Price Day
  • Monday, December 4 -- from 9 am to 5 pm -- "Bag Day" -- Fill our Logo Bag for $10 per bag, or your own equivalent-sized bag for $8 per bag, or purchase individual items at half-price, you choice

Early Access Hours, Paid Ticket-holders only:

  • Friday, December 1st -- 8:55 am to Noon
  • Tickets for Friday’s Early Access Hours must be purchased online in advance, through eventbrite.com, at: https://WestportFall2023BookSale.eventbrite.com.  Early Access tickets go on sale beginning November 15, 2023 at 9:00 a.m.   Tickets are $35 each + platform’s processing fees.  A maximum of 125 tickets will be sold.

  • Check our "Noteworthy" section for a collection of books by noted 18th century writer and poet Samuel Johnson, including a set of Johnson's Complete Works, and books by noted biographer James Boswell

  • A huge assortment of jigsaw puzzles, at bargain prices
  • Books for popular Role Playing Games

  • Back by popular demand: our Fiction for $1 Room — An entire conference room filled with hardcover fiction, mystery, science fiction and fantasy books, and young adult fiction, plus paperback novels, all offered at just $1 each  [Note:  books in this room will remain priced at $1 each on Sunday’s half-price day]
  • A collection of Robert Lawson’s books, the prominent writer and illustrator of children’s books, lived in Westport for almost 30 years. He illustrated “Ferdinand the Bull” and “Rabbit Hill,” which he also authored. Lawson was the only person to have won both the Caldecott and Newbery medals.  In addition to nice reading copies, the collection includes many first editions, as well as these signed titles.
