Come to our Big Spring Book Sale Event inside the Westport Library! Thousands of gently used books in over 50 categories, including children’s; literature and classics; fiction, mystery, and SciFi and fantasy; art, photography, history, math, science, psychology, philosophy, religion and spirituality, biography, business, cooking, gardening, performing arts, travel, foreign language, education, reference, and more, including Noteworthy, especially antiquarian books. Plus vintage vinyl, DVDs and CDs, ephemera, and a large selection of framed artworks, from small desktop pieces to supersized wall pictures.
Please note: Graphic novels and manga will be available only at our Westport Book Shop, right across Jesup Green from the Westport Library. For Book Shop hours, click here.
Of special interest for this sale:
- A large collection of Philosophy books, donated from the library of a retired professor of philosophy, plus a concentration of books on Spirituality, including Eastern and Native American spirituality
- An extensive collection of History books, especially Military History, with many very scarce titles, focusing on World War II, including fully illustrated studies of period aircraft, weaponry, ships and combat vehicles, many of which are prized by modeling enthusiasts; and plenty of American History & Politics, and World History books as well
- A large assortment of framed art — from small desktop pieces, to large wall pieces

- Music Table: Large selection of sheet music for the classical guitarist and lots of piano tutors
- Record Table: Very large selection of classical LPs, jazz CDs, 78rpms, and 45rpms records.
- FOL Gainesville does not allow pre-buying of items. Everything, and everybody waits on that opening morning entry that is traditionally lead by our Scottish Bag Piper!
- We will follow the most current CDC guidelines at the time. We recommend masks and social distancing.. On busy days shoppers may have to wait in line until others first leave the building.
- We encourage shoppers to bring your own bags and boxes for purchases.

- Our non-fiction is sorted into categories including: art/entertainment, biography/memoir, business/investing, cookbooks, education, health, home and garden (including pets and crafts), military, reference, religion/spiritual, science and nature, self help, social political, and sports.
- Fiction is sorted into genres: classics and poetry, general fiction, Christian fiction, mystery, romance, science fiction/fantasy/horror, and westerns. We do attempt to keep the Large Print in one location.
- No limits on dealers, we do ask that they respect all patrons and volunteers, thanks in advance.

- We are pleased to announce the participation of Birdie’s Bookmobile at at this year’s festival. Birdie’s Bookmobile is dedicated to eliminating book deserts and making books more accessible to children in Detroit. Birdie’s Bookmobile helps families build print-rich home environments, improve literacy outcomes, and grow lifelong readers. In addition to accepting donations of children’s and young-adult books, the bookmobile will be offering several fun activities for children attending this year’s Bookfest, including:
- Create Your Own Comic Strip
- Have Fun with Mad Libs
- “Once Upon a Time” — children take turns adding one sentence to a story. The story will be available to read on the Bookmobile website after Bookfest.
- There is no admission fee at Bookfest, nor is there any charge for children to participate in any activities.
- Book donations help build home libraries, promote shared reading experiences, and impact generations. Every book counts! Book needs for children from birth to age 18 include:
